Common Questions

How do I start transcribing?

Simply tap the record button in the app to start recording audio. When you're done, tap stop and your transcription will be generated automatically.

Why does the app need microphone access?

JustTranscribe requires microphone access to record audio for transcription. Your recordings are temporarily uploaded to our servers for processing by AssemblyAI and are automatically deleted after transcription completes. Audio is never shared with third parties for advertising or marketing purposes.

How do I sign in?

You can sign in using email/password, Apple Sign In, or Google Sign In. Simply tap the sign-in button on the welcome screen and follow the prompts.

Are my transcriptions private?

Yes. We take your privacy seriously. Audio is temporarily uploaded for processing and deleted automatically after transcription. Transcription text is temporarily stored to deliver results to your device, then automatically deleted after you view it — only metadata like duration and status is retained. We use anonymised analytics (PostHog, hosted in the EU) to improve the app. See our Privacy Policy for more details.

Can I delete my account and data?

Yes. You can delete your account directly in the app settings (tap Settings → Delete Account), or by contacting us at support@justtranscribe.com. Your data will be permanently deleted immediately from our database, including any subscription metadata and usage logs.

What languages are supported?

JustTranscribe supports transcription in 100+ languages through AssemblyAI, including English, Spanish, French, German, Italian, Portuguese, Dutch, Hindi, Japanese, Chinese, Korean, and many more. The language is automatically detected.

How do I manage or cancel my subscription?

Subscriptions are managed through your device's app store settings, not within JustTranscribe:

Cancellation takes effect at the end of your current billing period - you'll keep access until then.
